Designing efficient conservation action is a central problem in species conservation. Bringing together research and management provides insight into threat analysis, effects of management on species population dynamics and appropriate monitoring strategies. We report here such reciprocal benefits for science and management through the Crau Plain Grasshopper (Prionotropis rhodanica) conservation strategy, an endemic and elusive species of a Mediterranean steppe. Advances on the planning implementation, including recent results of research on the population ecology and microhabitat preferences are presented.
